Steps to connect Shopify with WorldFirst

1. Open a World Account

2. Get your local bank account details

With a World Account, you can open local currency accounts almost instantly, allowing you to do business like a local, even when you operate overseas. 

You need to set up a Receiving Account in the corresponding currency of your Shopify payout currency. 

  1. On your World Account dashboard, go to the Collection tab. 
  2. Click Manage Accounts > Add a New Receiving Account. 
  3. Select the currency of your marketplace. 

Once the account is set up, you can click on details to get the account details, including the bank account number and a sort code.

3. Add or replace bank account details

Here are steps to add a new bank account in Shopify or replace an existing one:

  1. In your Shopify admin dashboard, go to Settings > Payments
  2. Under the Payments section, select Manage 
  3. Click on Add in the Payouts section 
  4. Under the bank account section, select the country where the bank account is registered 
  5. Select the currency in which the payouts are to be made. You can add different accounts for different currencies and regions. For example, a USD account for customers in the US and a GBP account for customers in the UK.
  6. Copy and paste the account details from your WorldFirst Receiving Account. The banking information required can depend on the location.
  • Australia: Add account number, name of the account holder, and BSB code
  • The US: Add the account number along with the routing number
  • The UK: Add the bank account number and sort code 
  • Europe: Add the IBN and BIC
  1. When done, click on Add bank account

4. Change the default bank account for payouts

When you add a second bank account for Shopify payouts, the first bank account automatically becomes the default account. Payments collected in currencies that don’t have a dedicated bank account linked to them are converted into the currency of the default bank account. 

Here are the steps to change your default bank account in Shopify: 

  1. In your Shopify admin dashboard, go to Settings > Payments
  2. Under the Payments section, select Manage. 
  3. In the Payouts section, click on the three dots (…) next to the bank account that you want as your default payment account
  4. Click on Make default

Things to keep in mind when getting paid in multiple currencies

Here are some things to keep in mind when you have a Shopify storefront that collects payments in multiple currencies from global customers. 

  • You can only add one bank account for a currency 
  • When payments are collected in currencies matching with any of the existing bank accounts, the funds are deposited into the corresponding bank account with no currency conversion fee

When payments are collected in currencies that don’t match with any of the existing bank accounts, the funds are deposited in your default bank account. A currency exchange rate and a conversion fee are applied
